Home business ideas for moms

When a mother decides to leave the workforce to be a "stay at home mom," they begin to win some and lose some. There is no doubt that the "win" is in the irreplaceable connections that are developed between mother and child. Not to mention the long lasting effects are immeasurable. However, the loss comes in the form of income, and we all know that some financial plans and the best of saving for a rainy day just doesn't work. Not that we don't hope for them to, but there are just those unforeseeable things that sneak up on us. So if you happen to be one of those mothers that loves being a stay at home mom, but the negative income is dragging you back to the classifieds, then grab yourself a cup of coffee and steal some quiet time and invent yourself in some reading.

Reselling:
Reselling is the business of shopping for used items and reselling them for a profit. Opportunities are found at flea markets, yard sales, resale stores, and E-bay. The money is made when you are able to sell the item for more than it was purchased for.

Also, refurbishing items can lead to a higher resale, which might make it more worthwhile of your time. For example, furniture or other craft items can be refurbished. Refurbish the items to match people's dcor. Advertise in local papers or through social networks.

Clerical work:
Talk to neighbors and anyone that is in the same social circles as you to find referrals of local business owners that might need to contract services. Examples of services would be typing, copying, running errands, filing, and general paperwork.

House Cleaning:
Advertise to clean homes.

Commercial Cleaning:
Advertise to clean offices or other places of business.

Window Cleaning:
Advertise for both residential and places of business.

Planting flowers:
Both residential and commercial

Mowing lawns:
Both residential and commercial

Alterations:
If you are able to sew and own a sewing machine, advertise to take in alterations.

Ironing:
If you are able to crease a pair of pants and starch a shirt to a dry cleaner status, then maybe taking in ironing could be some extra income for you.

Laundry:
If you don't mind running your washer and dryer all day, then taking in laundry may be a way to pick up a few extra dollars.

Day care:
If you are able to handle multiple children and can organize a beneficial and safe environment for working mothers, then maybe this may be the at home business idea for you.

Errand running:
With the job market the way it is, some people do not have the time to run errands. Advertise to run errands so that people can gain some of their free time back after a long day at the office.

Grocery shopping:
(Same principle as the errand running.) Americans are spending a lot of their time at work, but the everyday chores of living still need to be completed.

Dog walking:
Self explanatory

Answering Service:
Doctors, attorneys, and other professionals use answering systems to forward calls when they are out to lunch or not taking calls.

Simply stated, the lists for home based businesses can go on and on. While this list may give a boost to encourage the brain juices to flow, remember the best success for a home business lies within. In order to motivate a business to do well, research and know your local laws and regulations, and do not forget that the person in charge must have the motivation, skill, and "know how" on how to make it work. In any event, the best thing to remember is "I think I can, I think I can."
