Poetry: Gasoline prices

Oh but the price of gas is enough to make you balk,
Why a body might wonder if it's better just to walk.
You think, and think, and think, oh no it's much too far,
So you pull up to the pump and put gas in your car.

The numbers fly by gosh darnit your tank must be hollow,
Not very many gallons and you breathe deep and swallow.
You try not to spill even a small drop outside your tank,
And you hang up the nozzle knowing that's less money in the bank.

And now you're sitting behind the wheel and turn the key in the
switch,
Watching the gas hand rise slowly now aint that just a bitch.
Didn't even reach the halfway mark from your ten dollar bill,
And you are doubly sure that not even a little got spilled.

A long deep sigh and you know as you approach the stop sign,
Road construction ahead and you're in the middle of the line.
So now you sit there idling wasting your precious gas,
And you're thinking something along the lines that they can all kiss
your .... well you know, CASH

    no need to
