Against the Grain
An old elevator crumbling to the ground
On a dusty dirt road at the edge of town
Makes me wonder if in its day
Did it ever think it would fade away
Deserted now,forgotten and old
Its golden grains no longer sold
Stately it stood in its prime
Now a victim of progress and a changing time
The locomotives it will no longer find
Belching smoke as they wait in line
Memorials to a better day
Before peace and contentment had gone away
