How to get involved with helping the environment

There are many agencies and organizations that you can become involved with. No matter where you live, you can make a contribution. One of these agencies is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which was established in 1970. The EPA a branch of the government which is dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment. The EPA has ten regional offices. Its headquarters are in Washington, DC. The best way that citizens can help the EPA to do their job is to report violations directly to the agency.

The Green Party of the United States is a federation of the Green Parties of the various states in the country. The Green Party of the United States is dedicated to the causes of environmentalism, grassroots democracy and social justice. You can become involved in the Green Party by volunteering or by taking part in any one of the many mass mailing campaigns which the Green Party organizes. You can also support the Green Party of the United States by making a donation.

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy is a non-profit organization which is committed to protecting the environment by promoting energy efficiency. You can contribute to the council by making a donation. You can also join the Ally program, which offers opportunities to help shape the nation's energy policy and energy efficiency research.

The Clean Water Network is an organization of over a thousand public interest organizations countrywide. The goal of the network is to help implement and strengthen federal clean water policy. The best way to participate in the Clean Water Network is to join a local non-profit organization which is a member of the network. You can view a list of member organizations on their website at cleanwaternetwork.org.

Earth Share provides support to a network of non-profit conservation and environmental agencies across America. The goal of this organization is to promote charitable contributions and environmental awareness in the workplace. You can contribute to Earth Share by making a donation of cash or property such as used vehicles, giving at your workplace, becoming a volunteer for the organization, or by recycling your cell phone through the organization.

Established in 1971, Greenpeace got its start in environmental activism by protesting nuclear testing near an Alaskan island. Today, Greenpeace activists are working toward goals such as banning commercial whaling, fighting global warming and stopping deforestation. You can support Greenpeace
