The purpose behind the global warming hype

Over the past few years, a great deal of information has come to light that refutes the majority of the basis behind the theories that propose that the earth's climate is warming at a catastrophic pace and that it is being caused by the activities of mankind.

While a growing number of people, scientists and laymen alike, are now beginning to question the validity of the many contentions that have been made, a question must be asked in order to make sense of it all. What is the purpose behind all the hype we are continually inundated with, regarding global warming?

There are no doubt a great number of purposes, some of which are personal or held by only a few. Not all of the deception is done for bad reasons, either. For instance, there is no doubt at all that man is wasteful, that he pollutes far too much, and that he doesn't consider how his actions on a small scale will affect the other people, plants, and animals that live on this planet.

For over 50 years, true ecologists and scientists have been telling us that our ways are damaging, and for most of that time, little has been done in general to make man better stewards of this world. Their warnings have fallen on deaf ears.

However, by slamming people repeatedly with a non-existent crisis and using catchy phrases like 'living green' and 'global warming', the public has been forced to become more aware of the problems caused by man's wastefulness and disregard.

This is helpful in many ways, even though the entire premise is purposely sensational and built on myth. It is so successful, in fact, that many people actually believe fervently that it is all true, and are prepared to argue the case regardless of what facts are presented to the contrary of those beliefs. That shows passion, which is the cornerstone to change.

As altruistic as those purposes are, they aren't the biggest purpose, though. The biggest driving factor is wealth. Dollar signs drive the hype to continually new heights.

The majority of scientists have not weighed in on the topic of global warming. However, a few have given support for the 'theory'. You might ask why this is, and the answer is largely monetary.

Simply put, research of any sort requires money. Governments and private foundations are much more apt to invest the money if they are convinced that it is to help with a perceived crisis, than they are if they feel that the research is profoundly meaningless. Further, if people can be convinced that a problem exists, whether it does or not,
