the day.
On the day of her leaving, Vinette and Lina went for coffee together. Vinette had not yet told anyone what she was going to study and she wanted to give Lina some hope of future by telling her the plan for them both. The smiley waiter welcomed the girls, until the glare cleared from his eyes and he saw who it was. He made it plain that Vinette was unwelcome. She was trouble. She dared to speak what had long remained unspoken. How she saw into people's private lives was proof of her satanic spawning. The whole town had an understanding that what happened in private homes, stayed there. No questions asked, no police required. Visible was glad to have her gone.
A few of the Cafe patrons told her so much. Nevertheless, they also told her that she would be back because Visible men were under her dark skin. Content to have her moment of light, Vinette suggestively turned to face Lina. The description of the next fours years of accelerated study to become a lawyer was bad enough. How would Lina survive in Visible without her allied savior for four years? However, to know that Vinette's intentions were to return to Visible, to open a Women's Legal Service, to
