Laughter is the medicine of the heart, mind, and soul and with it we can even feel better in our physical bodies. Humor and the things that go with it can make us happier and more joyful. It is a great way to relax, to let loose, and to let the weight of the world slide off of our shoulders. However, do we need humor on a daily basis?
To answer this question we will have to break it down. Some of the words in this sentence make it so that the answer is a resounding no, even though we enjoy humor and it makes us feel good.
Daily.
Humor is sure to make life a lot more fun, but whether or not we need it on a daily basis is really hard to say yes too. There are days when life gets you down, where no amount of humor is going to change the situation. It is these days that we have to push through to survive. It takes a lot of time and effort. But we live through them for the next day. That day may be much better and humor may be readily accepted. It may fill you with the bubbles of laughter and joy. However, no matter how you look at it, humor isn't needed daily.
Need.
Need is a really strong word. I need food and water to live. I need shelter from the elements. But do I need humor? Could I live without it? Yep, probably with out too much of an issue. Lives continue on without many things. Need is one of those words we use a lot and usually without true cause. We need that new pair of shoes or that new purse. We need the diamonds, our pets, the new gadget that just came out. But understanding true needs takes some thought, some introspection. There is a world out there were need is a word that people really understand. They need food and water and a place to live. If we think like that, we know we don't need humor, let alone need it daily.
Humor makes life more fun. Humor is something that can help us out in so many ways. But you can go days without it. In fact you can go years without it. Of course, I want humor on a daily basis. But sometimes the things I want don't quite work out. I will just have to settle for wanting humor on a daily basis and getting it whenever I can.
