Characteristics of a successful entrepreneur

Why do you want to be an entrepreneur in the first place and be successful too at that? Here are some typical, possible answers one might give (Answer group:A):

- "I have a dream, a passion; I have a plan, a grand idea that I have been nurturing inside my heart over several years."

- "The passion, the itch is irresistible. I have been analyzing it from all angles. At times I feel confident that I can realize my dream and come out in flying colors; At times I am not sure; but the itch refuses to go away. It keeps coming back and haunting me."

- "The more I think of it, the more I feel I CAN DO IT. I am confident I have the skills. I am confident I can do it much better than others."

- "I have a good paying job; I can't say I am unhappy with my company, my boss or the working atmosphere. But something inside me keeps telling me "Hey! You don't belong to this place. Do not cover up your passions with the luxury of your present job.""

- "If only I can start to work on my passion, I can stake everything else for its sake - my present job, the security it gives, the perks I enjoy, my waking time, my sleeping time, my eating time and the time I spend with the loved ones. I am prepared to sacrifice all these and I am confident they will all come back to me tomorrow, once I struggle and succeed."

- "I know I am taking a huge risk. I can falter; I may wobble and even fall down. But something inside keeps telling me that I am capable of overcoming the adversities, steady my self to stand up, walk and run eventually."

If your answers fall into the above (Group:A) category, yes; you are made of entrepreneurial stuff. You can make it and be a successful entrepreneur one day.

A successful entrepreneur is made more out of the inner stuff. He may or may not possess a towering personality; he may or may not come impeccably dressed to meet and impress a potential client; he may or may not have admirable linguistic and communication skills; he may or may not be capable of drafting a compelling sales promotion mailer or an impressive business plan.

Yet he will possess an inner glow that any sound businessman can notice - a signal that indicates "Trust this guy; he can do it".

HERE ARE SOME MORE POSSIBLE ANSWERS (Answer group: B)

- "I have lost my job. I want to try something on my own."

- "I want to make millions; I can't imagine my getting them by working under somebody."

- "I don't like others bossing over me. I want to be the boss."

- "I have got friends who have got money to invest. I want
