Once upon a time, according to Old Testament scripture, there were not only requirements but strict and very stringent guidelines by which a man could cleanse his soul and be forgiven for his inherited sinful nature and thus accepted by God. The price always involved the shedding of blood. The perfect spotless sacrifice, a spotless lamb offered on the altar of The Holy God would make a mans way sure. Once the offering was accepted by God, the blessing was certain. And although this sacrifice had to be made every year, Heaven was his destiny because in those days men knew God existed, even if they had tendencies to lose sight of his dependable plan.
God, according to scripture, knew mans inadequacies; He knew our great need for Him merely out of the foreknowledge of His own creation; and our inability to live the Holy life that is only possible by His indwelling Holy Spirit leading and guiding humankind. The Holy life that would make ones way sure when it came to entrance into Heaven. In His divine grace and mercy towards His very creation, He made a way for us to live eternally with Him while in this life, on this earth, and after leaving this life as we know it. A way was set before mankind knew of divinity by the one true God. A perfect sacrifice who, once believed in and accepted, paved mans path to Heaven.
The Bible teaches that God sent to the earth, by His divine plan, His one and only son Jesus Christ.; who would be that offering, our offering, for us all to accept and believe in. He would be the blood sacrifice that was needed for man to know eternity's existence as reality. Although to many this sounds like religious dogma, to others it is the very life source of their being. It is virtually their entrance into Heaven. Not their achievements, good deeds, measurement of good life lived over bad choices made. But a price that was paid once and for all so that man could not only enter Heaven but have forgiveness here; have peace and joy on this planet amidst the pain and suffering that we all experience on a daily basis.
Yes, there are entrance requirements to step into that glorious, beautiful, peaceful and abundant place that we can only fathom by what scripture tells us; a place that we will once again join loved ones who have gone before us. Fortunately for us all the heavy price that needed to be paid was done so on Calvary's hill over 2000 years ago by the only perfect sacrifice that could ever be made for us all. It is finished, He said. Man could finally cease striving and rest in His perfect arms and perfect rest.
