Tips for easier travel

the plane will need "maintenance" and you will be sitting in that steel bird for an extra half hour while the stewardesses turn off the fans and leave the passengers to rot. (Can you tell I've lived this before? In summertime Vegas, no less!) By wearing something that lies light and flexible, you can stay warm with one of the airplane's flimsy flannel blankets.

PLAN YOUR ENTERTAINMENT

6. Use Your Phone Wisely: If your phone can play music, download new songs and/or books on tape ahead of time. Most phones have a special feature specifically for airplane travel that blocks incoming calls while allowing you to listen to the prerecorded files on your phone. (It's a great excuse to buy those language lessons you may have been considering or getting that inspirational CD to get you energized while in flight.) Also, if you are traveling to another country, be aware that you may able to get a new "unlocked SIM card" which give your phone the ability to make and receive calls.

7. Take a DVD Player and DVDs: This is essential for people traveling with children who will need to be entertained. Since DVDs packed in a travel case take up very little space, you can bring along multiple movies to help the time fly faster. (Don't forget the headsets or to charge an extra battery.)

8. If You Don't Have a DVD Player, But You Do Have a Laptop, Take That Instead: This can be a great way to entertain yourself or your children while on long flights or in the car. Download a few brainteaser games ahead of time and DVDs won't be the only entertainment. No kidseven better. You can play the games yourself, or just do some work while in the air. If you are in Business or First Class, you can get a special airplane plug from any office store and you will not have to worry about your battery dying.
