Since this is a Quran study,this will be more or less a lecture.Forgive me.

Start reading the THREE LINES.

Notice the FOUR CHARACTERISTICS of ALLAH there?
Illah,RAHMAN,RAHIM,MALIK
ONE GOD,MERCIFUL,COMPASSIONATE and SOVEREIGN.

Then Man asked for FOUR REQUESTS:
Guide us to the Straight Path;The path of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace; Not (the path) of those who earned Your Anger; Nor of those who went astray.

Meaning Lead me to your way,Don't Mislead me,Don't take away my benefits and Don't be angry with me.

It's plain logic when you look into this way that the beauty of Allah telling MAN to KEEP ON ASKING. THE MORE YOU ASK, THE MORE YOU GET.

So, to top it off, You can ask for anything...GOOD, not of harm to others, or any ill deeds like winning the Lottery or something.For Allah is also the Creator of Bad News,DEATH and the sort (refer to ASMA UL HUSNA for a breakdown.)

And the easiest way to get it on the express stream is to PROCRASTINATE and Between the Hours of Midnight and Dawn. Ask and you shall receive.

Another way to get good deeds is to READ, ie learn something,education for a day studying is far better than performing solat for ten years. In itself, the Fateha is not the first verse. IQRA is, meaning read, but it transliterate the importance of prayers to Him,and seek the light.Seek his Knowledge, and Share HIS knowledge with others.
