A (Not So) Brief History of Eastenders
-
Can it really be twenty plus years since Eastenders hit our screens? Twenty years of murders, affairs, fights and laughs. I for one remember the first scene as if it were yesterday; Den Watts, Arthur Fowler and Ali Osman kicking down the door of Reg Coxes bed-sit with Den uttering the first words in the BBC Soap, "Cor, stinks in ere", as they discover Reg dead in his chair. Little could anyone know that this was the beginning of one of the best British television programs to grace our screens, Eastenders has won countless awards and made stars out of everyone who acted in it. We've laughed and cried along with the folk of Albert Square as they lurch from one disaster to the next, we've cringed as illicit affair after illicit affair is discovered, and we've cheered as the latest ner-do-well is run out of town. But who's who in Albert Square and how is thingy related to whatsit? Without further ado lets discover the families that contribute to the show.

Arthur eventually sought the help he needed, got better and celebrated his rehabilitation by having an affair with Mrs Hewitt. Pauline found out and walloped Arthur around the head with a saucepan which seemed to cure his wandering eye. Meanwhile, Mark ran away from the square but eventually returned with a new head, (The original actor sadly having committed suicide), but infected with the HIV virus. Much stigma was attached to his condition and Mark suffered incredibly through other people's ignorance, however his family were fully behind him once they came to terms with the situation. While Mark was away Michelle was busy canoodling with the landlord of the Queen Vic, (and her best friends Dad), Den. This dalliance ended as only it could in soap opera land with Michelle falling pregnant, she decided to keep the identity of the Father a secret from her family much to the annoyance of her Mum and Dad and In due coarse gave
