How to make friends

"True friendship is based on trust, honesty and sincere generosity of our hearts." Henry David Thoreau once said in his "Friendship". Faith and trust build up sincere friendship, and trust is the cornerstone. I believe that the unique approach to good friendship is trust. When we try to make friends with the others, some will be acquaintances; some will become intimates; some are on business relationship; some are to be social friends; some others are friends in family relationship.

We have casual friends, bosom friends, business friends, friends at school, and friends out of other relationship. Though it seems that it is not difficult to make friends, there are a lot for us to learn to make friends in the right way. Good friends enhance the quality of our life, while bad friends make it worse. As Benjamin Franklin put, "Be slow in choosing a friend". We should be careful in making friends to have healthy friendship. Trust and understanding are very important to friendship. Where there are no trust and understanding, there is no true friendship. Sincere friendship is healthy, which is built on mutual trust and on the basis of mutual understanding. We should let the bridge of friendship be broad, smooth, and strong. The bridge is mutual trust. The establishment of good friendship requires sufficient self-confidence, no matter which level friendship it is. We should use our charming power of confidence to gain respect, trust from the others. If we can only rely on external factors to make friends, I think, we are still not mature enough to make friends, considering the social functions of friendship. We should not only admire the others, and try to find ways to make friends with them. We need to show to the others that we are the kind of persons who are worth making friends with.

Second, we should get along with our friends by giving others the positive impact in life, and anyone is willing and happy with our companions. No matter what kind of friendship it is, we should show our positive attitude to life. It is out of the need for the support of a good personality in
