Spongebob Squarepants is an animated cartoon on Nickelodeon. It is set under water in a land called Bikini Bottom. It is a very colorful creative cartoon that is fun for all ages. There are many interesting characters that make this cartoon one that is hard not to watch.

The lead character is Spongebob Squarepants. He is a little yellow sponge that wears brown shorts, a white shirt and a red tie. He is a goofy little character that loves to play. His favorite past time is jelly fishing. He loves his job as a fry cook at the Crusty Crab and his beautiful pineapple home. He has a pet snail named Gary who doesn't do much more than meow.

Patrick Star is Spongebob's idiot neighbor and best friend. He is big, pink, and comical. Patrick makes very little sense but his ignorance is humorous. He loves to laugh, play, and is a big kid.

Squidward Tentacles is Spongebob's high society neighbor. He is also an employee at the Crusty Crab. He loves jazz, his clarinet, and fancy living. He is annoyed by Spongebob's antics and is always dreaming of a better life.

Eugene Crabs is the owner of the Crusty Crab. He is the tightest man to ever live. He loves money more than anything, and will jump on any chance to make more cash. He has a daughter named Pearl, who is seen in very few shows.

Plankton is Mr. Crab's archenemy. He owns a restaurant across the road named "The Chum Bucket". Plankton is bent on world domination and the secret crabby patty recipe. He has a computer wife named Karen.

Sandy Cheeks is a squirrel who lives in an air dome. She wears an astronaut's helmet around when she is out of her environment so that she can still breathe. Sandy is a scientist who loves to take life to the extremes. She is originally from Texas so rough and tough is only an understatement.

Mrs. Puff is Spongebob's boating instructor. If anyone ever needed a nerve pill it is this lady after a day of dealing with Spongebob. He is the thorn in her paw. There are other characters worth mentioning such as Larry (the lifeguard/burnt out beach bum) and Mama Crabs, Mr. Crabs' mother but they are in very few shows.

There are also appearances by Spongebob's favorite crime fighting duo, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. They are elderly super heroes that reside at the local nursing home. Their prime is behind them but Spongebob still worships the ground they walk on.

Each character has their own unique qualities that make this show seem even more perfect. Now that you know the characters, the only thing left to do is watch the show. If you like lighthearted humor, you won't be disappointed.
