When it comes to the Nintendo Wii being a success, it comes down to the number of people buying the system in the first place. It is right now the leader in console sales overall ahead of the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Just because it may become a success doesn't mean that everyone is going to want the system in the first place.
As far as a personal success, it comes down to the number of games that are available that are good in the first place. No one will buy a system without it having some good games. From a game players standpoint, it comes down to the interest in the games in the first place. One thing that is a fact is that Nintendo did not push graphics to the limits that the other consoles being the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 did in the first place.
If you really want to be fair, it is a success in the sense that it is redefining itself as a company of innovation and for anyone in particular; it is in the eye of the beholder. With one that has many of the classic games from multiple systems mostly from the Nintendo area, it does bring in the thought of finally realizing that emulation is a key component to making it work properly distinguishing it from the rest. Of course, the thought of using motion control actually helps as well and the kickers is that it is actually developed by Nintendo.
There are many games for the Nintendo Wii that can be fun but again it will depend on your own point of view. Mostly, it has games that are successful from the Nintendo brand the most and the third party either doesn't put forth the effort or take the system seriously even though it was leading the seventh generation of video game consoles in terms of overall sales. It really has done its job and has potential to be limitless with the motion style and not having the most realistic looking graphics out there.
Truthfully, it isn't the most powerful system and is really the least of the bunch. That doesn't make the system and neither will graphics in the first place. That is the big disadvantage but at the same time it involves Nintendo's roots of always looking to have the best available game play that it can possibly have. With the addition of having every single GameCube game compatible, it does give it an edge in terms of having a video game library and plus it doesn't render the GameCube completely obsolete.
There is also the option of having some of the accessories that can be used with the Wii like the Memory Card or the GameCube controller. It is however a shame that it does allow the option of having the Game Boy Player hooked into it because that might have given it an even larger edge than before.
The Nintendo Wii is a success because if it hadn't been, Nintendo may be out of the video game console race for good.
