Poetry: The pain caused to rape victims' lives

Just One Outcome of Rape

Open bottles, strewn about on a floor of grass
His fingers trace her nude form in certain trespass
Hidden strength deep within her wineglass
And she can see the falling sand in her hourglass
Time is still.

Clothing, clawed and ripped in silent surrender
She can fight no more, so she bites her anger
She screams at him, why, as if he will answer
He is unmoved, she feels him deeper.
She begs him, kill.

Her pain is numb, she now feels nothing
She is tired of crying, tired of begging
For his compassion, her heart is forcing
Her surrender, as she is slowly drowning
This can't be real.

Days and months and even years
Could not erase her silent fear
We were blind to all her tears
Always his voice, that she could hear
She could always feel.

The crimson redness falls in slow motion
Her smile is real, her truth is spoken
Through a single slash, no longer hidden
She makes her peace, he cannot threaten
Life surreal.
