I think it would be a shame to ever ban Halloween from schools. It is a wonderful kid centered holiday nowadays. Children love to dress up and go either door to door and trick or treat for candy or they love going to the malls or other public safe places. It has become such as strong tradition for children to pick out their costumes and just have fun. It would be a shame to take that out of the schools.

I remember being a child and looking forward to the Halloween party at school. It took a whole two hours out of the busy school day. We all got to wear our costumes and just have fun. I remember exchanging candy and bobbing for apples. I also remember the contests for the best costumes.

School is not just about learning match, science, reading, etc. Its also about teaching children to form relationships with others peers and building social skills. School needs to be fun. And having a wonderful Halloween party in grade school is one of the best things about going to school. We cannot cut out the holiday traditions. I remember I loved Christmas at school, Halloween, and Valentines Day were always great.

It doesn't hurt anything to let our children have fun. If we cut out the two hour Halloween party then what will be next? Will we cut out recess because school is strictly a place to 'learn' and not have fun and interact? Where does it all stop?

I think we need to let our children have fun and just be kids. Part of that is letting them have their fun holidays like Halloween. Plus so many children don't get to have a good home life so the school activities that are fun and like a party help those poor unfortunate children enjoy their childhood.

As I said, school is not just about learning the basics but about interacting and building relationships and friendships. It teaches our children to be social and to form bonds that in some cases last a lifetime with their peers. We need to not loose sight of that. I, personally, want my children to have fun at school and also learn. They have quite a few years before they attend school but I certainly hope that when they do attend the tradition of teh Halloween Party is still being enjoyed in their class.
