Quick tips for inner peace:
1. Breathe deeply
2. Learn to think before you act
3. Live with passion
BREATHING:
We naturally hold so much tension in our bodies by forgetting to breath deeply, that inner peace remains illusive at best. Try feeling peaceful by holding your body rigid and breathing shallow. It doesn't work. So if there is one quick and easy way to begin to find inner peace, it's to start taking deep slow breathes while allowing the body to feel like it's melting.
Take time each day to notice your body. Feel your posture, notice where you have tension and whether your breaths are full and extended, or shallow and frequent. If they are the latter, take a moment to release the tension starting at your head and moving to your toes, slowly relaxing each muscle. I know this may sound more like a meditation course, but I firmly believe that inner peace can only be achieved by learning to allow tension to flow through us and not to hold it trapped in our bodies.
Of course not even this will help if we have so much unresolved baggage in our lives that the minute we forget our simple relaxation techniques our mind defaults to everything wrong in our world. So along with deep breathing it's important to resolve issues that continue to weigh us down. The practice of deep breathing often results in our becoming infused with more energy and awareness. This then gives us the power to begin making healthier choices, as well as finding ways to resolve some of the past choices we've made that weren't so wise. Which brings me to my 2nd tip:
THINK BEFORE YOU ACT:
Inner peace is just a state of mind. It doesn't matter where you are in life, what trials you've had to bear. What matters is that you learn the lessons life is teaching you so you don't end up repeating them again and again. Repeating mistakes, hoping to achieve a new result creates a build up of corrosive baggage that can keep us from ever getting a peaceful night's rest. Learn to forgive yourself for the mistakes you've made, try to forgive others for what you consider wrongs they've inflicted on you, and then you can live each day with nothing to hide.
Before acting on an impulse when a choice is placed before you, take a few moments to flash forward in your mind to view the possible outcomes. If any of the choices has the potential to hurt ourself or others, take the time to explore other options. There's always a better and more healthy choice available.
LIVE WITH PASSION:
Once our energy starts to flow in its natural rhythm we can release the fear and anxiety that's been holding us prisoner and keeping us from pursuing our dreams. Allowing ideas and the emotions they create to flow freely and not get stopped up in our flesh, will allow us to hold on to inner peace for ever increasing amounts of time. It will also allow us to explore what brings us joy, and from there we can begin to infuse passion into our daily routine. Passion will then become a way of living, not just a term for the bedroom.
One day we may wake up and realize that inner peace has become our constant companion - and with it, a new passionate way of living. We no longer harbor the types of thoughts or emotions that undermine that peace, nor do we make life choices that would do so either.
