Ramadan (A month of fasting) is a month of obligatory daily fasting among Muslim and Islamic religion. It started on December 20th- the Muslims will obeyed and offered this month with fasting from dawn and end with sunset for at least a month as the Holy Qur'an says: "O who believe, fasting is decreed for you as it was decreed for those before you; perchance you will guard yourselves. The month of Ramadan is the month in which the Koran was sent down, a guidance for the people, and clear verses of guidance and criterion. [Quran: Chapter 2, 183]". Muslims are obliged to fast. It is their belief and has been practiced since the Muslim Era began, it prescribed and ordained by Allah- their God.
SPIRITUAL BENEFITS.
Becoming more closer to Allah (God). When Muslims will fast, they deprived themselves from food or anything that they love to indulge. They understand that temptations and ways of the world likely to spoil their purity and austerity. Thus, in the month of Ramadan, they cannot do all of the temptations and the desire in the world they love to indulge. Instead, they focus themselves to be more closer to Allah, reading the Holy Qur'an and devoted their times with prayers and fasting. As it says, "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become God-fearing." (The Quran, 2:183).Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. Whoever prays during the nights in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. To show that Fasting is the epitome of the five pillars of Islam. The Prophet said:"... whoever fasts during Ramadan with sincere faith and hoping for his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven". During this month, Muslims are warned against gossiping, backbiting, slandering, hypocrisy, lying, cheating, duping, keeping malice as these vices negate the teachings of the Holy Qur'an. Ramadan fast unites Muslims and bring them together as equal slaves who can be forgiven of their past sins devoid of discrimination in the sight of Allah.
PHYSICAL BENEFITS.
The physical benefits of Ramadan for Muslims are just secondary nature as that of being closer to Allah (God). Fasting in Islam is not new. It has been already ordained and practice ever since. During Ramadan, Muslims would not only benefited by their spiritual purpose, they can also reap the medical reward. One way method that has been observed for weight management, to rest the digestive tract and for lowering lipids is through fasting. Ramadan fasting has no malnutrition or inadequate calorie intake. They only take their calorie intake just below the nutritional requirement guidelines. Fasting in Ramadan has a physiological effect, it includes lowering blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol and lowering of the systolic blood pressure. In fact, it Ramadan fasting is advisable for the treatment of mild to moderate, stable, non-insulin diabetes, obesity and hypertension. On the other hand, this fasting can acquire peace and tranquility, stabilize the blood glucose, aggravates behavior changes, produces a tranquility of heart and mind and improves the memory especially by the recitation of the Qur'an.
