The Best Beaches L.A. Has to Offer...

When you think California, you think "fun in the Sun", "Celebrity Madness" and "Surfing Off into the Sunset". Most most of all, when you think of California, you think of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles has a lot to offer. Hollywood, the Fashion District, all of the glitz and glam you could want. So, it should come as no surprise that in the midst of all that, some of us need to take a break and just hit the beach.

However, we don't all hit the beach for the same reasons. Here are some of the best beaches the L.A. has to offer, and why you want to check them out.

1. Redondo Beach - Fun for the Whole Family
While there isn't a single "nude beach" in all of L.A. (the closest one you'll find is in San Onofre) not all beaches are created equally when it comes to planning a family vacation. If you've got kids in tow, not just any beach will do. You need sand to play on. A pier full of amusements. Places to bike and to skate. There's enough going on in Redondo Beach that you can keep the whole family happy for a weekend or more...

2. El Matador Beach - A Romantic Getaway to Remember
For those traveling sans kids, take your candlelit picnic dinner over to El Matador Beach. Spread out your blanket and star up at the stars together, enjoying one of Los Angeles's most secluded, sweet spots, hidden away from the hustle and bustle so many of us expect. Just north of Malibu, the Sunsets here are pure poetry. You might even wind up popping the question...

3. Venice Beach - Celebrity Watching
Budding paparazzi and gossip mongers alike all flood to Venice Beach in a flurry to find out who they'll spot next. When the stars aren't busy walking down red carpets, they strut there stuff here for all the world to see (and drool.) Keep in mind though, this beach also happens to be one of the quirkiest, so be prepared for anything. When the stars are involved, who knows what might happen next...

4. Zuma Beach - Surf's Up!
If you could care a less about kids, romance or celebrities, then chances are, all you want to know is "Where do I catch the next wave?" If you want a beach that caters to nothing but your need to become one with your board, then Zuma Beach is the ONLY place you need to know. 19 miles north of Mailbu, if you don't want to broadcast that you're a tourist, drop the beach and just refer to it as Zuma. With clear, cool waters and an early birds shot at free parking, it's well worth the drive.

If L.A. is on your itinerary, then grab a suit and hit whichever beach "suits" you best...
