I've spent the past week sparring with another of those wacko Liberal Lefties. You know the ones they just can't be happy. No matter how sunny the weather, they prefer to moan about the cloudy days of yore. Or the rainy days to come. I tell you, I'd trade one of these guys (or gals, I don't want to discriminate) for an illiterate, non-English speaking, one legged, blind, hungry-for-an-opportunity illegal immigrant any day preferably Catholic.

Why is it these people just can't leave us alone. Why are they so desperate to change us? (And the country for that matter?) Are they truly incapable of understanding that we are happy the way we are? When I realize I'm dealing with a moron, I end the discussion. But not with these guys - they just keep at you like a pigeon at the park, even after your bag of popcorn is empty.

Is it possible I've stumbled upon the fundamental difference between Righties and Lefties? In my experience, the Left is more of the "We can always change our minds" crowd, while the Right is more of the "Let's just finish the job". The Left is more "Move away" whereas the Right is more, dare I say it, "Move on". While the Right is often accused of stubbornness and thick headedness, I'll take commitment over ambivalence every time.

Is it in their DNA? You've met these kinds of people before - the non-decision makers of the world. They are stymied by all the opportunities and options out there. They can't and won't choose. They want the best of all worlds and will not acquiesce that not all people can be pleased all the time. Therefore, they make bad decisions. And as soon as they make a decision, they are filled with doubt. They have no confidence in their decisions. They accomplish little. And if they do succeed at something, they are not satisfied. They are uncomfortable and confused. They don't know how they did it so they can't repeat it.

Take a moment to identify the non-decision makers in your life. Done? Now ask yourself, right or left? I'm right, aren't I? (Don't go all absolute on me, of course it's a sliding scale of extremity.)

This is why Conservatives are reportedly happier than Liberals. It's the ability to commit to a decision, a course of action and follow it through to a conclusion. And it's why I won't argue with these people. They refuse to accept a difference of opinion. They won't let go. They have to convert you to their side because their measure of success is being liked. Well, I'm not a conversion candidate. For Pete's sake, I've published my opinions on the www - I'm not on the fence.
