and burn off all of that sugar; if you are inactive and your metabolic rate is lower than normal, extra sugar and calories WILL be converted and stored as fat in your body.
The same goes for alcohol, particularly BEER because of the calories and volume of liquid consumed. They don't call those decorations on the people leaning against the bar "beer bellies" for nothing.


If you must drink alcohol, make a point of cutting down the volume and frequency of drinking. Make life easier on your liver, kidneys, and heart; lose weight and live longer.
Drink lots of ordinary tap water, and enjoy ordinary coffee and tea. Make the trendy lattes, cappuccinos and other "coffee fancies" a special treat instead of a regular thing; eliminate calories and save money at the same time.

4. Quit Smoking

It is difficult to quit because of the addiction factor with nicotine and other chemicals in tobacco products, but there is no doubt that smoking is a known negative factor that deteriorates health levels overall and causes cancer. Do yourself a favour; get a nicotine patch, chew nicotine gum if necessary for a while, but get rid of all forms of tobacco. You CAN take control. Your health will improve, your breathing will be easier, your sense of taste and smell will return, you will enjoy your food more. You will feel better and you will save money, too, if that is any incentive.



5. Limit your total intake of sugar, salt and sodium to within reason.
Watch out for the hidden stuff. That typical can of Coca-Cola has several teaspoons of sugar in it, but did you know that ketchup is loaded with sugar? Prove it to yourself. For an experiment, try stirring a tablespoon of ketchup into a glass of water and taste the resulting solution.
You will be shocked to discover the level of sweetness when the tasty red stuff is diluted with water.
The same goes for canned soups. The excessive salt and sodium content of canned soups, commonly added in the form of extra salt and monosodium glutamate ("M.S.G.)to enhance flavour, is outrageous and unhealthy. If you have to use them, read the labels and do be aware of the contents, but preferably, make home-made soups instead and control what YOU put into them.

6. Control your Mind and Body
One of the most important, and most significant factors in staying fit is to not only control body weight by paying reasonable attention to quality of food and total caloric intake, but control your MIND with a positive attitude. Stress is harmful, so do everything possible
