Learn your instant messaging lingo

How r u 2day? - How are you today

rly lmao, wuu2? Really, laughing my ass off, what you been up to

Confusing isn't it but IM (instant messenging) lingo is all based around making common used phrases shorter so that one can communicate more efficently.

The one thing to remember however when you are writing on the interner, esecially in IM speak is that You put comma's in the right place or a sentance may have a completly different meaning!

Below is a list of common word shortenings in IM speak and what they mean.

LOL- "Laughing out loud", usually used when someone has said something funny or even in agreement. LOL can be used to mean many things, and most people find themselves using it sarcasitally or just for the sake of it.

PSML- "Pissing myself laughing"- Used like LOL but can me used to have a stonger meaning ie. when something is funnier that just a simple laugh.

LMAO- "Laughing my ass of" - Used when you find something really funny, and although can be used like LOL, isn't as universial and dynamic in meaning.

WUU2- "What have you been up to" - Does what it says on the tin

NM U - "Nothing much you" - The usuall responce for WUU2. This is usaully used when you can't be bothered to reply to WUU2, or dont want that person to know what you have been up to, most I'm users use this phrase all the time.

KK - "OK" - This is quicker that ok as you press the same key twice instead of having to move your finger

G2G- "Got to go"- Used when you have to go

BRB- "Be right back" - Indicate you will be away from your computer for a while

BK - " Back" - Indicates you are back from your computer

GDGD " Good good" - Usually to indicate some thing is good or that you are happy the person is back to speak to you

BI - "bye

*(action)*- Denotes a certain action ie *walks away slowly* can be used when someone has said something weird, something contained in * should be taken as a joke.

Emoticons- These symbols represent faces! Most IM clients replace these with a little face of that emoticon.
