Write a business plan over lunch

So, you have decided you want to start your own business. You have been thinking about this for months, and finally, on break from your current day job, you sit down to write out your plan. You are finally ready to take that next step, and put your plan on paper.

Starting a new business venture can be very overwhelming to a new entrepreneur. But, don't let that stop you. The best way to begin is with these 7 easy steps.

Step 1. Identify what the purpose of your business will be. Will you be providing a service, or will you be selling products? Write down a few ideas about this topic. Don't worry about going into much depth right now. We just need to get down the idea.

Step 2. Who will be your target consumer? This is very important to determine before you begin anything. Will you be working with the public or other businesses? What is the target age bracket? What types of people or businesses will benefit from your new business? Try to think about as many things as you can about your consumer. This will help you develop your other steps.

Step 3. How will you market to them? There are numerous ways to market your new business, and it will determine who your target is. Print ads in magazines and newspapers might work for the public, but maybe not for corporations. Perhaps you might want to look into trade shows to market to other businesses if that is the route you are taking. Write down your ideas. Remember, you can add to them later as you think of them.

Step 4. Where will your business be based out of? If this is an Internet business, you may be able to work from home. If you are selling product, you will need a location. Where will your business benefit most? If you need a location, choosing the right location is critical. You don't want to open a doll store in an industrial area.

Step 5. What tangible items do you need? If you desire to open a store, you may need a cash register, display shelves, sign, etc. If you working from home, you may only need some basic office supplies, such as a computer, printer, fax, paper clips, paper, envelopes, etc. Make a list of all items you can brainstorm right now. Remember, this can, and probably will be, revisited later.

Step 6. What financial resources do you need to begin? You will most likely need to purchase some items to get started. Websites, inventory, and promotional materials are just a few. These items will cost you money, so begin to write down a budget for everything. You might need to do some additional research
