Poetry: My one and only love

Once upon an empty shallow night
I took pen to paper with no delight

Pain from old memories past
Left behind like some plaster cast

Buried deep what sorrow lay beneath
As a gravesite bears its token wreath

And with the flushing that purge did vent
The scars of life's lost lament

An angel came into my view
A sage whose tale was full and true

She did not pretend to weep nor cry
But opened up the me' in I'

She shared her soul, while guarding her heart
And gave this wretched life a start

For someone as burnt and bled as she
Gave comfort as she saw through me

But gently so without casting shame
Harnessing the beast and making tame

And as my chin slowly a rose
Looked back at me nose to nose.

My troubled soul could not keep
From this beauty while I sleep

And toss and turn in bed as I lay
I read over my mind of things she did say

Do good by her is my absolute must
I am a man she must know she can always trust

So with chin up, alive with a fresh start
I offer to her the depth of my heart.
