Being in love with an incarcerated man

When a man is in jail he is separated from everyone that he loves and cares about. But the important thing to remember is that everyone that he loves and cares about are also separated from him. Many people think that because a man is in jail a woman must be crazy to still love him and that there is no way that she can truly be loyal to him. Maybe this is because they have never been in the situation or maybe they have just never completely loved another individual. Fact is just because people are separated by prison walls does not mean that the love disappears or a relationship can't survive.

Being a woman on the outside isn't easy. Your family and friends think that you are wrong for loving and wanting to help your man through this. There is a large part of your life that becomes wrapped up in his incarceration. Making sure that he gets mail from you all the time takes up much of your free time. You work hard so that you have the money to allow him to call ever now and then or to send him some money for his canteen so that he can be as comfortable as possible. You are willing to change your whole schedule around to make it there to visit him. In some instances you visit with your children and you spend allot of time keeping the children's spirits up so that they know that Daddy loves them and will be coming home.

Can you really love this man? Absolutely! If you completely loved this man for all that he is when he was free that doesn't change because he is unable to be with you. For whatever reason he may be incarcerated, that is still the man that you love. He needs you now more than he ever needed you. You love, loyalty, and dedication will help him pass through some of the hardest days of his life. And if you can't go 1, 3, 5, or 7 years without the company of another man, then you really didn't love him in the first place.
