Citizen journalism and the opportunities offered to freelance writers

wherewith I speak. As it now stands I am only giving opinions on how I think this area of questionable expertise-up to now-could be further advanced.

The areas I see as needing more input from those with first hand knowledge are in the areas of health care and geriatrics and in the homemaking industries. Who knows more about many diseases than those who are suffering from them. Of course they would have to do lots of research and would need to know special terminology and will have to work with their medical advisers, but what an improvement that will be. No longer will some diseases be written about by others but will have knowledge from a true first hand source, the one suffering from it. Invaluable sources of knowledge are limited not in scope but by writing expertise and the physical stamina that often is lacking in terminal illnesses. But just think what an invaluable contribution that would be to science?

In the sports arena free lance writers who would like to try their hands at reporting high school basket ball games or at least assisting the busy sports news editors is another opportunity waiting for the right free lance writer to grab the opportunity. The sky is truly the limit to those who want to put in the often grueling work of going after that story that only they can tell. If they are dedicated, they cannot count the cost of the lack of pay; nor the loss of time.
