How I relax: My favorite hobbies

I managed to lure a high profile media icon into my store by framing a newspaper cutting of her. I displayed it in my window and received a large, glossy, personally signed photograph from her. Of course, I knew she was in town.

A signed photograph from a legendary movie actress arrived three months after I had written to her. I admit to having used my company letterhead. All is fair in love and war!

Obtaining signatures at book launches is a great way of speaking to the author and having your volume personalized. If the book is a first edition it makes it so much more collectable.

Attending high profile rallies and international conventions enables you to be on hand to receive famous signatures. I have met state presidents this way.

Remember that not only is the hobby very rewarding when you have something potentially valuable and a keepsake as a result, but it takes you out to all kinds of functions and keeps you occupied and relaxed.

Armed with my many memories and the satisfaction of knowing I am building up something rare, I sigh, carefully repack all my photographs and paraphernalia and lock up my box.

It is usually about four am and, feeling thoroughly sated, I return to bed for a really relaxing nap before the onset of the new day ahead.
