Doom 3 is a game that was created for the Xbox, PC, Linux, and Mac. For this one, it is going to be focused squarely on the PC version. It is said to be a reboot of the original Doom games instead of actually being a continuation even though the name of the game is Doom 3. Many years had past with Doom and seemed to be a forgotten franchise and was a signature staple in helping make the First Person Shooter genre a success along side with Wolfenstein 3D.
This one has more of a plot inside of it. The year is 2145 and you are deployed to Mars where is a military base to investigate the disturbance. They develop fields to having uses such as teleportation, weapon design, and biological research. There are demons and zombies out there that got freed accidently and has to be taken care of as soon as possible one enemy at a time. There are people that will help you whether it's through tips or weapons and it would be advised to get them because they will be needed. In terms of the plot and in terms of presentation, it does its job in that regard.
Graphically, it does look a bit realistic in terms of how it is presented. Sure, it isn't purely that way and seems to be CG or computer generated but it does seem to be the trend in terms of graphics. It doesn't make the game though. Having said that, they did a really nice job with the game and it really does show how you can take something and make it look good with technology continuing to evolve getting more powerful than ever before.
When it comes to game play for the PC, it can be set up through the keyboard and usage of the mouse. There probably is the option to change controls in terms of making it available. If you feel more comfortable getting a controller, then by all means buy one and plug it into your computer. Most likely, it would be involving using the USB ports inside and go from there. Once that is complete, then you can begin play. Be sure to configure them properly. Also, if using both the keyboard and mouse, they have to work well.
Unlike the original Doom game, it did not have levels set up the way it would be. If anything, it would be broken up into sections and seemed to be a bit different. Just something that should be pointed out and really isn't a huge deal.
In terms of overall, it wasn't a bad game and would be worth looking at if you remember the Doom games. It does it justice and keeps the tradition of being a First Person Shooter and destroying demons. There would be a movie adaption. There is also the expansion pack called Resurrection of Evil for those who might be interested. It isn't a bad game and would be worth at least looking into.
