Anyone can meditate. The simplest way for beginners is to meditate while you're going to sleep. It helps you to slip quickly into restful, deep sleep. Once you're more comfortable with meditating, you can meditate in the early morning when you wake up by sitting on a comfortable cushion or even sitting in your office on a chair on your lunch break.
If you decide to meditate while laying down, uncross your legs and close your eyes. Place your hands flat on your stomach. Inhale through your nostrils, slowly filling up your stomach like a balloon. Your hands should be resting on your belly and should rise as you inhale. When you exhale, slowly let the air out of your mouth while your hands and your stomach fall.
Breath control is very important while meditating. Breathe as instructed for a few minutes. If your nose itches, scratch it. Don't worry about being completely still at first. That takes time and practice. If distracting thoughts come into your mind, recognize the thought and imagine yourself "placing" the thought to the side. You can come back to it after you meditate. Right now is your time.
Now, focus on your toes. Wiggle them. Imagine that you can see them. As you exhale, imagine all the tension releasing from your toes. Imagine them "exhaling" from the toenail. This helps to imagine releasing muscle tension and stress.
Now, do the same for your feet. After you've relaxed your feet, move up to your ankles. Concentrate next on relaxing your calves and shins at the same time. Then comes your knees, followed by your thighs.
Next, breathe out the stress in your pelvic region. Move up to your stomach, back and chest. Work your way through your shoulders, arms, elbows, and hands.
This is the best part: your neck and head. So much stress and muscle tension is held in the neck and face. The following will help cut stress and even reduce wrinkles.
Release the muscles in your neck by breathing out the tension. Feel them loosen. If your tongue is pressed to the roof of your mouth, let it lay inside your mouth. If your teeth are clenched, then open your jaw slightly, letting it relax.
Focus on your eyes while they are closed. Are your eyes squinting? Relax them. Relax your forehead. Continue breathing while you imagine all the tension from your head blowing out your mouth and into the atmosphere.
Imagine a tiny white light is glowing in the center of you, right above your belly button, but inside of you. This is your solar plexus, or your center of being. With
