Movie reviews: Grindhouse

I think I might be too young to enjoy this. Grindhouse delivers something that does not appeal to me at all. The movies are trying to remake the old cheap not Hollywood movies and as much as I don't mind the bad acting and lacking special effects, the lack in something actually happening on the screen make it boring. Now I realize the movie is made to look this way, but does this really justify it? Then every boring or bad made movie can say it was intentional and suddenly its a stroke of genius instead of the bad movie it really is? Of course not. So why should we let the director away with a movie that feels half finished just because his name is Quentin Tarantino. I am mostly aiming towards Death Proof now.

I don't have much to say about Bruce Willis unrealistic zombie movie, I actually enjoyed it, but I can't say the same about Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof. So I have understood the concept of this movie trying to be an honor to the old b movies, but still is it supposed to be boring and un entertaining? The concept of the movie is an interesting one, but it could have been done so much better. Tarantino starts off in familiar style, but the movie turns into some girl power Charlie's Angels cliche movie and I find it really sad. Some of the dialog is good, some parts of the movie is entertaining, but overall it gets stretched out too long and it ends boring.

The general idea to begin might not be a that good one as we are living in 2008, not back when the films had 25 budgets. Well actually I find it irrelevant as it is not the acting I find bad or the lack of film effects, but I hate the fact that I can't enjoy the story at all. The characters are not likable and the way the bad guy is killed off is annoying (in Death Proof). I'm sure this movie appeals to some of you out there, as every Tarantino movie do, but this is not for me. Don't let it stop you though. Give it a try and if it doesn't appeal to you either then too bad. It is an interesting concept and a brave task to take upon by the two directors. I think they did a decent job, but just decent.
