I have read a few of the articles on this subject and had to stop before my head exploded. To me it is ridiculous to call anyone a spoiler just because they want to run against the two headed political monster, we'll call, the republicrat. Let's remember people that this country was never meant to be a two party system and to play into the media machines propaganda to keep this plutocracy, is not only ignorant, it is a failure in your duties as an American citizen.
To really diagnose problems in current affairs, we need to look at history. I have already stated above that we were never meant to be a two party system, the real kicker though is that in 1792 the Democratic-Republican party was formed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison to conflict with Alexander Hamilton's Federalist party. The Democratic-Republican party did not split until differences arose do to the conflict of slavery. So even today, although these are different parties, their roots are planted in the same platform.
So when I hear that a Ralph Nader is running third party, it doesn't make me think that he is doing it for personal gain. The man is already a consumer advocate hero. Every time that he runs and loses, wouldn't you think that he is actually diminishing his name? What Mr. Nader is doing is what most apathetic Americans need to realize has to happen, break the monopoly the two parties have over this nation.
Right now 80 percent of Americans say that they would consider voting third party or independent. Do I think that Nader will win? No. I just pray that more people like Ralph Nader stand up against the aristocratic republicrats so that, even slowly, more Americans look towards the other dozen viable parties. We know that our corporately owned and ran Media isn't going to shine a light on the Libertarians or Greens.
To cap it all off what everyone really needs to think about is this; In 2000 when gore lost Florida by only a few hundred votes, maybe some of you who lean a bit more to the dem side of the same party, could throw some blame Nader's way. If you look at the decade before that election however, H.W. Bush wasn't an unpopular president while Clinton and Reagan were adored. We now have a President who will most likely go down in history as the most impeachable, disliked leader of the free world in the history of the United States. Following his suit is a John McCain who is running on the same Neo-Conservative philosophy. If you put five more Nader's in the race and the Democrats can't still win by a landslide, then they should all just pack up, go home and never show their faces again.
