Poetry: Politics

All of the Good Jobs are Gone

Factories are leaving the country
Logs are leaving un-milled
While people carry signs of protest
About what they say God has willed

The Preachers are taking on TV
Trying too save the world
While fathers and mothers and children
Go to bed with their tummies unfilled.

Politicians say they have the answers
God is on my side they say
But you have to have an address
Or you can not vote anyway

If this is the land of Freedom
And this is the home of the brave
Can you tell me why everyone
Is acting like they are afraid?

This is the way God wants you to vote
I heard one preacher say.
While another of God's chosen people
Told me to vote the other way.

Now I'm really confused
Should I vote for yes or for no?
Meanwhile people are starving
And the workers have no where to go!

Here we are fighting each other
The laborers and blue collars too
While greedy rich people are smiling
And laughing at me and at you

All of us good people are fighting
About who is right or wrong
Meanwhile, we haven't noticed
All of the good jobs are gone.
