Best video games ever

The best video games ever. How to choose? I know the ones I absolutely loved and can still pop in and play. I've played hundreds of games but the ones I remember are the ones that got me in trouble for bedtimes, school times, homework, and chores. Ahh the life of a gamer.

BEST VIDEO GAMES EVER:

1) Zelda games. Not all the Zelda games make it to my list. I'm going to start with the classic NES very first Zelda. The golden cartridge. The only cartridge I ever had that wasn't gray. This game had an awesome booklet too. The sort you'd take with you to school to read at recess.

The Zelda game for Super Nintendo was awesome as well. In fact I'll admit to saving up for the systems just for the Zelda games. I am that big of a fan. It's why I have a game boy (though none of those games makes my lists) and why I have an N-64, and game cube.

The ultimate Zeldas for me so far though, are the ones for N-64. The water was amazing to me. It was the game come to life in graphics that were super realistic for their time. The plots were fantastic and the music was good enough to have a soundtrack CD released.

2) Everquest. This was the ultimate MMORPG. Anyone that played this avidly will never forget it. The world was so large (before Planes of Power) and the characters you met along the way will never lose their magic. Everquest II is just a haunted version of this magical creation. Who wants to play in a world filled with shadows of your former haunts and dreams?

3) Mario Party. All versions of this game will do because it isn't about the story line, it is about a hilarious four player competition. Break this thing out at a small gathering and you have the tools to crack up your friends for hours. If you loved the N-64 versions of this game like me and my sisters did than you probably remember the awful blisters from rotating the gray joystick on your controller. Totally painful but totally worth it to beat someone down the river.

4) Perfect Dark. For N-64 again. A Nintendo golden age. This was a shooter game with an okay story line (the hilarious Dr. Carroll was a floating laptop computer I swear it). I liked to play this game in four person mode with the split screen. My sisters and I would play all the king of the hill versions we could unlock.

5) Grand Theft Auto. I never liked the story lines of these games. They gave me the creeps. Instead of doing the tasks I admired the music (Miami Vice was my favorite) and drove around in the cars, sometimes stopping to steal a new one. Good times.

6) Harvest Moon. Seeing as I had a problem with the murdering and maiming in Grand Theft Auto it should come as no surprise to you that I absolutely love the Harvest Moon line. Starting with the first game, I began a great love affair with the townspeople (seriously debating which girl to marry was amazingly entertaining). I made huge productive farms and bred cows. I lived for random cinematics. I own two versions for Gameboy. I love the game cube version for the ability to create hybrids. I got confused about which season it was outside my window. Wasn't it summer? Nope, just in the game.
