All of us share some type of stress. You can't lead a normal life without it. No matter what kind of life we live it's there hanging over our heads weighing us down. It robs us of our sleep at night. It steals days of our lives by attacking our health. Many of us are seeking ways to enrich our lives and improve our health. Part of this involves searching for ways to reduce the stress we currently have.
I feel as though I've had different levels of stress throughout my life. During my youth, in the working world, stress came in dealing with deadlines and great responsibilities. Every task was centered around the clock. Now I am a stay at home mom with many other types of stresses. It entails dealing with family issues and meltdowns at the grocery store. Many of which have encroached my life. More concerns about the finances arose due to the fact that I am the one responsible for most of the family shopping. Though the levels of stress are different, many of the same stress relievers apply to both of my situations. In a valiant attempt of doing that here are suggestions to use in your everyday life.
1. Exercise plays a great role in my life. I turn up the music and escape reality even if only for an hour. I step out of my hectic day and live in the movement of my soul. This is instrumental in my everyday life. Without exercise I feel bloated, lazy, and tired.
2. Go outside and get some fresh air. I happen to live in a beautiful part of the world. I step outside and see the vast green trees and take a deep breath. Yes, this is when you stop and smell the roses. Look into nature and reflect on its beauty. It reminds us to stop taking things for granted and appreciate our lives.
3. Prayer and meditation follow suit. No matter our beliefs, we all need to answer to someone or something. Live for a reason. Decide what kind of person you want to be and take the time to meditate and improve yourself. Find your values and morals and pray for the strength and guidance to follow them. This time alone clears your mind and relaxes your body. Turn off the TV and radio and turn on your mind.
4. Hobbies can take you to a quiet place of peace. This can be a craft, some kind of art, or something that requires your full attention. This can be a great release of stress. This allows you step away from your worries and place your thoughts on the task at hand. Writing is a hobby I like to pursue along with playing the piano, photography, reading, and drawing. Your hobby can become your sanctuary.
Go ahead and take a deep breath now and you can see that you just let off some steam just by reading this little article!
