There are a lot of people that only give thanks once a year, well maybe that is not all true. There are others that do not even look upon what it is in their lives that they should be thankful for.

I do not consider myself to be either of those type of people. To me I am thankful every day of my life, and here are the reasons why.

I am thankful that I was brought up with two loving parents. One parent struggled with demons, the other was the one who held our family together like glue. Thankful for my parents for giving me and showing me how to love.

My Siblings are my world and I am thankful that our parents brought us up to be as close as we are. Sure, we have our differences and maybe even disagreements, but nothing can stop the loving and caring bonds we share with one another.

There is a very old quote, that you can count your true friends on one hand. To be honest, I find that theory true. I know who my friends are, the ones that have stuck by me through thick and thin. The ones that are there for me, anytime and any day. I am thankful that I have some great friends in my life. I consider them angels that pick me up when I have fallen down.

With everything going on in the World, the price of gas, the high increase on utilities, the price of everything, I am thankful that I have a warm home, good food, and clothing to wear. I am thankful that even though I may not be rich, I am rich with the warmth of my family being around me. We have always made the best of trying times no matter how hard they have gotten.

I am blessed and thankful for the fact that I have faced death twice and some how managed to bounce back and be the person I was before those times. I am thankful that I am still able to walk, talk and use my extremities for mobility.

My creative mind still works and I am still able to get my words down. I am thankful that I have been blessed with many talents. I may not always be the smartest crayon in the box, but I am able to think and use my brain to function.

Last, but not least, I am very thankful that I am able to wake up in the mornings. I am able to take a breath without the assistance of a machine. I am able to see with my own eyes. I am able to hear the laughter of children playing or the sound of the ocean waves. I am able to smell when my Mother is in the kitchen cooking the family something great to eat and I am able to touch and feel the softness of my animals when I pet them. I am thankful for life, I am thankful for being alive and I am thankful that I am still here to live life to the fullest.
