Of course, this article in no way a guarantee on how to get your leapfrog approved. The headline is actually one of those attention getting headline that promises more than it can deliver or even expect to deliver. Writers at helium.com can edit or revise their articles and that is what the leapfrog option is all about. Leapfrogs are intended to improve, update and improve your article standing. Leapfrog can work for you but they can also be rejected. You can however take measures that increase the changes of getting your leapfrog approved.
When to leapfrog
You can leapfrog at the time of your choosing. Actually you can leapfrog your article soon after you publish it. That is if you notice a mistake of substance that needs correction. If it is a minor spelling or a just a couple words out of place, you can email content@helium.com with brief and detailed instructions for change. It has to be to the point and minor in substance. You can also leapfrog to update your article as long as your article is not about a specific time like Christmas 2007.
Who accepts or rejects
Other Helium writers will review your leapfrog against your original article. They can accept or reject your leapfrog. If they reject your leapfrog, you can submit the same leapfrog one week or so later. So it is a good idea to keep a copy of your leapfrog article on file in your computer.
If your leapfrog is accepted, your article will then go back into active rank competition. Then the writers will again determine if your replacement article advances in the rankings or not. Sometimes it takes a while to see any movement if anything moves at all. You could improve your article and still see it stuck in place.
Helium.com states that "when your Leapfrog articles are presented to raters, text clearly states that these two articles are being compared for Leapfrog purposes." There will be a recycle sign and a green box around your two competing articles.
Tips
One of the best ways to get your leapfrog accepted is to improve and refresh your opening paragraph. It doesn't matter if there is nothing wrong with your opening. Another good practice is to put in fresh numbers. Finally, revise how you end your article. All these measures will signal that you have a fresh new article.
You should also take care of any spelling or grammatical errors. Sometimes when I get intense, I tend to write in fragment sentences. That is why I find leapfrog so useful.
Even if you have successfully leapfrogged an article you will have opportunities to rewrite it. I have even written an entirely new article when I've noticed that my current article is a little off topic. Then if my leapfrog gets approved I can revise my old article a little and look for a new home for it at helium.com. Sometime that is not even possible, but that is why all writers have trash bins.
