Should parental stupidity be classed as abuse?

If stupidity is ever classed as an act of abuse, I know quite a few people who will lose their kids! We all know people like these, those who make you ask why the heck they ever got pregnant in the first place. Those who make you really believe those bumper stickers that say "Don't Let Stupid People Procreate".

I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that people who cannot take care of themselves, have no right to try and turn an infant into a well- rounded adult. These people have to be (in some form of the word) ADULTS, before they can be expected to create more ADULTS.

To add to the worries, have you ever noticed that poor parenting is repetitious? Its like horror films and really S-T-U-P-I-D flicks are the norm for sequels. So if a parent has a child and can't "figure it out"; they go off and have another- perhaps in an attempt to "do better" the second time around.

Friend "A" gets pregnant with her first child in high school. She was scared to let anyone know, so she dressed in baggy clothes and didn't eat in an attempt to keep from gaining any noticeable weight. The boy was born starving- he weighed only five pounds fifteen ounces and was nearly double that two weeks later, because OUTSIDE the womb, he was finally allowed to eat. He was basically given to his maternal grandmother soon afterward, so she could "return to work". She would see him once every couple of weeks and was working fewer than twenty- five hours a week. Soon afterward she was pregnant again. When the news came about, that grandmother (Friend "A's" own mother- mind you) took her to court for full custody of that first child! She failed to win the case but was granted "Grandparents Rights", court ordered visitations, every other weekend. Along comes child #2, and after fighting for AND ALMOST LOSING the rights to her firstborn, she willingly gives up baby 2 (on the same weekends and three days a week), "so she can have alone time". Lo and behold, she is found to be expecting again! When this child is born- her mother tells her- (finally)- "You are a mother of three- and its time YOU knew it." and quit keeping them. Now, she is a single mother of 4 kids, and has no idea how to cope with he children. She knows nothing about them, nor does she have the patience to learn anything about them. She is suddenly overwhelmed (through her own stupidity) and therefore "abusing" these wonderful children!
