Beyond the principles of good and evil

An Infinite Bell Curve

The existence of the concept of Good and Evil is a curious aspect of humanity that has existed since the beginning of recorded history. For people of faith, forbidden fruit plucked from the tree of knowledge or similar analogies have long been points of reference and a beginning.

In minds unsatisfied with the concept of creation by intelligent design, the evolution of human conscience from primordial beginnings speaks from the fog of an unknown and truly indefinite past.

Regardless of belief system, the dichotomy of good and evil in the awakening of the conscience of mankind continues to plague modern society with questions of uncertainty world-wide as the definition of good and evil evolves in ebb and tide.

It is an inevitable contradiction that truth, although attacked and questioned at times, eternally remains as truth, while human definitions of good and evil appear to be subjective. Adjustable and relegated to contemporary whims of society, any contemporary definition of good and evil is easily altered by manipulation. Coveted societal change can be fabricated, legislated and boldly placed into practice, rightly or wrongly.

Should the essential and defining principles of good and evil be freely allowed to change? Is the resulting change in process merely subjective and wishful thinking of individuals who specifically perceive personal benefit in negative change? Comply with order, and be smiled upon patronizingly by those who would mold minds and portray themselves as aggressive social reformers to facilitate exploitation of human weakness.

Temptations of modern life ply additional pressure upon all members of society, but power fills the vacuum of uncertainty, inevitably lacks ethics and does eventually command corruption. Global trends grow ever closer to a pattern of decline displayed by civilizations of the past with the universal symptomatic decay of morality.

If the principles of good and evil are thereby in a state of constant flux and are allowed to be subject to alteration, how can it be reasonably decided there is anything worthwhile "beyond" the perception of good and evil?

One must ultimately conclude that, if there is anything concrete beyond an infinitely changing or altered definition, the logical answer must be one of relativity, a result of an intensive and protracted thought process.

Upon initial examination, it appears at times that contemporary society carefully, or even studiously, avoids genuine commitment
