Different Parenting Styles and their Effect on Children's behavior
Parenting is a milestone in everyone's life.
At the same time it is the hardest most difficult complex part of life.
It is assumed, as a global phenomena primary role of all parents is
to influence teach and control their children.
Following are the basic parenting styles where all parenting can be put together.
Authoritative or Democratic ,Permissive, and Authoritarian. Since Authoritative
style of parenting is what produces excellent results I will discuss that in detail.
Parents do this by providing clear, reasonable expectations for the children and explanations for why they expect their children being good and reinforcing the good behavior rather than focusing on the bad.
Parents who are democratic give choices based on child's ability . For a toddler the choice might be to choose a toy to play or an out fit that child likes . For a school going child it could be watching TV after home work is done in full. These children become very cooperative and understanding when they have control of their life. They have better self esteem and acknowledgement of good behavior.
This style of parenting is considered to be the healthiest life style and most balanced to parenting. Authoritative parents enforce limits but they do so to protect their children. They also engage their children with reasoning when enforcing those limits.
Something else to note here, there is always a fine line between all these three kind of parenting. You as a parent have to judge yourself the consequences before taking action as a parent, and if according to your life style, your child and your parenting style your action is following in this category, you are doing a great job.
Keep in mind , rules to apply this kind of parent hood also depends on your Childs behavior and you will have to apply those from the very first day of your Childs life.
If you are able to create an authoritative mind in infancy, that is the best for a child to become independent on his self strength with your help.
Happy parenting to all.
