drain chemicals, you can use a few effervescent antacid tablets crushed and dropped in the drain followed by some vinegar and a good rinse. This also works well for removing stains from such things as water scale and soap scum. If you don't have any tablets, you can substitute it for baking soda.
Tips for bedrooms, linens, and closets
Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to change seasons. Winter items such as heavy blankets, clothing, and decorative items can be gathered up. Before putting them away, go through and decide what you no longer need or want and which items will need to be fixed. You can then wash everything up and store in unused suitcases, plastic totes, or baskets, and stored away. Place a fabric softener sheet into each container that will store clothes to prevent them from getting musty. Rubbing a fabric softener sheet over items such as nylons and sweaters will help to eliminate static.
Marks on the walls can be removed with a magic eraser or by dipping a damp cloth into some baking soda. An odd sock works well as rag; you can get into the hard to reach areas.
Help in the bathroom
Here again, the vacuum is helpful to suck the dirt from the exhaust fan keeping it in tip top shape. Vinegar and water can then be used to wipe down the cover and fins of the fan.
If you notice stains in the toilet bowl, pour a family sized bottle of cola into the bowl and allow it to soak. The citric acid will easily remove the marks. For harsher stains, rub them out with a pumice stone damped in the cola; it will remove the stain without harming the porcelain.
Vinegar and water with a few drops of lemon juice work great for cleaning the entire bathroom while leaving behind a fresh scent. To remove water marks from faucets, give them an extra wipe with window cleaner or rubbing alcohol while using salt and lemon juice will remove any rust stains. Lime scale can be removed easiest by allowing a mixture of cream of tartar and hydrogen peroxide to dry on the affected area and then washed off.
If you notice mould and mildew like to collect on tile grout, you can get rid of it with a brush and a solution of bleach and water. Then, coat the grout with lemon oil to prevent it from coming back.
Give living areas a lift
Carpets and upholstery will need to be cleaned to match the rest of your home. If you happen to find a stain that is slightly greasy, coat it with shaving cream and allow it to dry. The powder that is left behind can then be vacuumed up taking the stain with
