Great things to sell on Ebay

by Lauren Mills

Created on: February 28, 2008

Selling on eBay not only offers a way to earn some extra cash, but it also presents a true and legitimate home business option for thousands of motivated sellers. Whichever purpose you'd like eBay to serve for you, the starting point comes in the form of one simple and obvious question, What should I sell?

In considering the following options, keep in mind that it helps to sell something you actually like yourself! If you hate sports, golf clubs probably aren't the best product pick for you. What things do you love to do? What are your interests? Start with items in areas you are knowledgeable about, and you'll find eBay selling much more rewarding overall.

Here are some of the hot categories you should take into account when deciding what to sell on eBay:

1.) Your Junk Equals eBay Treasure. For starters, take inventory of your home. Dig through your junk drawers, overstuffed closets, and garage selecting items that you no longer use on a regular basis.

After doing a little research on eBay's completed listings, you should have a good idea of whether or not the items are worth selling, and an average price point at which they might sell. When you're selling items you would be chucking anyway, post them with low starting prices to guarantee a sale. Take advantage of eBay's own "What to Sell" tool, which will bring you through each room of your home for great selling ideas:

2.) Brand Name Clothing and Accessories. Whether it's for children or adults, brand name clothing attracts swarms of eBay buyers every day. Why pay $100 for designer jeans when you can get them on eBay for half that? Do the research to find the hottest selling brands and items, like Coach, Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, and countless others.

3.) Technology and Electronics. If you have any technical bones in your body, you can use them to rebuild and restore computers and other items for resale on eBay. Smaller technological gadgets also sell well, in addition to video game systems, cell phones, iPods, cameras, and any other current technology trends.

4.) Antiques and Collectibles. If you really don't feel too sentimental about, consider dusting off your Great Grandmother's china that's been boxed in the attic since you got married. Many collectors turn to eBay to find rare items like this, as well as other hard-to-find objects from coins to comic books, and silver to stamps.

5.) Holiday and Seasonal Items. Be especially
