How to get the most energy from common foods

Energy foods should be EASY FOODS: easy to access, eat, and digest, and especially easy on the pocketbook. High energy foods which release energy slowly are the ones to pay attention to. Lean proteins, whole wheat breads/cereals, brown rice/wild rice, bananas and beans should be on the top of your grocery list.

A superfood is any food which is unprocessed and natural, usually in its raw state. Avoid anything that is "white". White bread, white rice, white pasta, white refined sugar (brown sugar is merely white sugar with coloring added). Use instead a sugar substitute such as honey, molasses, or maple syrup, but be careful and use sparingly because sugar is still sugar. With these concepts in mind, you can expect the most bang for your money. In the long run, fresh foods may cost a bit more, but you will be getting maximum efficiency without paying extra for packaging, advertising; not to mention additives, preservatives and unwanted coloring in your food.

This is the grocery list for energy foods in the general category:

whole wheat pasta, brown rice pasta, spelt pasta, soy pasta
whole rolled oats
whole grain breads and cereals, granola
lean cuts of meat
nuts and seeds ( pumpkin, sunflower, walnuts, almonds)
green leafy vegetables
yogurt ( unsweetened, eat with fruit)
fish and some seafoods

The Grocery List for Specific Energy Foods are:
Beans ( dried and green beans), broccoli, blueberries, oats, oranges, pumpkins or zucchini,
salmon, spinach, green tea, tomatoes, turkey, walnuts and yogurt.

To get the most out of these common foods, keep in mind the following guidelines:

Foods in its freshest state should be consumed. Fresh foods contain good enzymes necessary for the proper digestion of food, nutrient absorption, and for maximum intake of vitamins and minerals. Eating raw food will provide you with more energy.

When fresh foods are cut, prepared, and organized into small plastic containers, the freshness will be kept and the attractiveness of containers will motivate you to snack on them instead of grabbing quickly for a donut or chocolate bar. Carrot sticks, celery sticks, peppers, cucumbers will provide a refreshing food that is easy to eat.

The Art of Simple or Easy Cooking should be integrated into our daily lives. Preparation shoud be short and simple, with no fuss. If foods cannot be eaten fresh, steaming, stir-frying would be the best alternative. Again to maintain maximum freshness and getting the most nutrients. Boiling should be avoided
