Whatever happened to driving etiquette?

Driving etiquette has been run over by the new ME mentality of todays drivers. Gone are the days of mutual respect, patience and loving kindness. We're all in a rush to get to work, get home for American Idol, be the first in line - WIN OR DIE!

Every morning, I nearly have a STROKE dropping my child off at school. With a smile on my face, and feigned patience, I ask myself WHO THE HELL TAUGHT THESE PEOPLE HOW TO DRIVE? To these special people, I address "the simple rules of driving etiquette".

INDICATORS

The purpose of indicator lights is to INDICATE your intention to change lanes or turn to other drivers. This is so we don't slam into the back of your car, or change lanes at the same time as you! If you fail to indicate, we don't know what you are doing. It is a SURPRISE to us. Jerks.

Also, indicating you are changing lanes as you are changing lanes is REDUNDANT. We can see the big freaking car changing lanes in front of us - we don't need the added help figuring out what is going on! Try turning on the lights BEFORE you change lanes, Dumb-ass.

FOUR-WAY STOPS

We all know how these work. We learned how to take turns in grade school. Why can't you people master the simple concept behind the four-way stop? I have a heart-attack, fearing for the lives of children walking to school as you crazy people:
* All drive at once, and then skirt around each other.
* Drive through the intersection, barely missing children walking across the street.
* Drive even though the last person to drive was the car directly in front of you.

CRESCENT DROP-OFFS

My son's school has a very handy and thoughtful crescent shaped drive way (drives in and off the road in a semi-circle). The idea, of course, is to drive as far as you can into the semi-circle, stop briefly, and drop your child off safely in front of the school. Sound simple? YOU'D THINK!
Instead you:
* Pull into the crescent as far as one car length and then stop - leaving everyone else waiting on the road.
* Pull into the crescent, stop, and have a long conversation with your child.
* STOP ACROSS the mouth of the crescent - not using it, but blocking it for others use.

Why are you more important than the 20 other people waiting to drop off their children?

WACKY ILLEGAL STREET PARKING and EIGHT-POINT Turns

READ THE SIGNS which read "no parking or stopping". They are there for a reason. Use the handy dandy, round-abouts. Do not park two cars deep on road while dropping
