Laugh a minute
smile so bright,
worry if I'll
sleep tonight-
paint a picture
of the me,
I want all
the world to see.
Can't explain
just why it is,
that I so often
drown in tears.
Darkness bubbles
through the cracks,
heartache reigns
panic attacks.
So ashamed
of my weak heart
that breaks in two
as hope departs.
The mind goes blank
chest is tight-
once more I lose
the mental fight.
Rage explodes
frustration too
and I do things
I shouldn't do.
The numbness fades
and I am calm,
I feel fear,
regret, alarm;
the beast inside
has gone to sleep
wish my sanity
ran that deep.
Back in control
my smile in place
my dark disguise-
my happy face.
