The best dates for Boston college students

You have a date planned for the weekend, and you said "We'll just play it by ear". Reality hits and the truth is you haven't any ideas, and very limited funds. What do you do? Lucky for you, Boston is a great city with many low cost, but fun options. Here are suggestions on scenarios for those with little cash. All of these will cost fewer than 50.00 dollars.

The "Bohemian Artist" date. Grab Coffee at Whole Foods Market, and take a walk to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (5.00 with college I.D.). Finish it off at the Brown Sugar Caf with a shared appetizer and two Thai Style dishes for lunch in this cozy and romantic restaurant in the Fenway area. All of these places are within easy walking distance of each other, so you save on cab fare and at the same time lessen your eco footprint.

The "Rock Star" date. Drinks, dinner, and a show all in one spot. Enjoy some baba ganooj and chicken schwarma's and you're in it to win it at Cambridge's own Central Square at The Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub. Extra credit if you are able to tell your date the names of the people painted on the mural outside. Make sure you go to the website to see who's playing what night *upstairs* (free of charge).

The "Prep School". Fun, easy, and low key you say? Pub food and good beer is what you're after? Head to America's oldest Tavern, the" Bell and Hand" in Quincy Market. The menu is fantastic the beers are large and if you are up to it; within walking distance; offsite entertainment is available at Faneuil Hall. At just a quick jaunt away, there are plenty of performers from comedians, to jugglers, to break dancers, just make sure to tip..

The "Laid Back" date Is your mind on your money, (or lack thereof)? This quintessential staple in Jamaica Plain's own Hyde Square has everything you could ask for. The Milky Way Lounge will give you a relaxed place to get to know your date with a great neighborhood vibe. If you have a competitive edge, you have your choice of a game of pool or bowling. Take in the atmosphere, as this place offers interesting dishes and inventive cocktails as well as local artists. On top of that, you'll really look like your "in the know" taking them to an "out of the way" spot.
