MARCO Island, Florida
A Sun-Caressed Sanctuary
MAR (Marvelous) + CO (Compare to Oahu) = WOW!
Marco Island, Florida should really be called Little Oahu because it is shaped a little like the Hawaiian island, has a similar climate, and marinates in warm-hearted waters. It is situated at the northernmost Ten Thousand Islands that are strung along the southwestern coast of Florida like a jewel necklace, with Marco Island appearing to be one of the clasps. And that is just what the island does. It grabs our attention. It beckons us to come sunbathe on its alabaster white beaches while it wraps its never-ending warmth around us. Marco Island is picturesque, immersed in breathtaking subtropical beauty, and always ready to clasp and dazzle any one who needs to vacation, to rest, to revive.
MAR (Marina) + CO (Cuisine Over-the-top) = MAN-oh-MAN!
Marco Island is bedecked with miles and miles of beaches and marinas, offering front-door access to beautiful accommodations. The island is unique in that you can sit on a beach inside the island. How neat is that? You can walk down a boulevard in the middle of the island and run into a marina. This is one of the things that makes Marco Island so unforgettable. It is a filigree-a beautiful island that is a lacework of beaches, marinas, palm-shrouded avenues, and beautiful hotels and homes.
Besides all of this, Marco Island is absolutely packed with fine dining. There is waterside dining where you can enjoy the freshest catch of the day while you watch frolicking dolphins. There is sumptuous global fare: Asian, French, Indian, Thai, Mediterranean, German, and Mexican fine dining. There is meat-and-potatoes American food: barbecued ribs, steaks, and fish. You can also count on numerous coffee houses, pubs, grills, and delicatessens to fill the bill for more informal dining. Marco Island definitely offers unforgettable cuisine to top off a day spent relaxing on the beaches and the marinas.
MAR (Market) + CO (Come Aboard) = Shopping and Recreation Ahoy!
Marco Island is the largest of Florida's, measuring six miles long and four miles wide. It is situated 15 miles southeast of Naples and 100 miles west of Miami. There are two bridges that link Marco Island to the Florida mainland: the Judge Jolly Bridge and the Goodland Bridge. Since the island lies in Gulf waters that are shallow, calm, and clean, the beaches do not experience chaotic wave activity. The peaceful ambiance of the quiet beaches are not disturbed by noise pollution, just
