Spring, what a wonderful time of the year when the snow begins to disappear and the world comes alive.Life takes on a slower pace during the winter season as we close ourselves up in our homes until the first burst of spring beckons us out into the warmth of the sun. This is the time when we throw open our windows and take in the glory of the changing season after a long cold winter. Then comes the challenge of cleaning after our long winter hibernation.
The one thing that everyone knows is that it is better to plan what needs to be done than to just jump into the mess. Planning helps you get through the drudgery of the job that lies ahead. The main thing to remember when you start this job is to do it one room at a time and always work from the top down. Always remember clean room by room to eliminate a mess throughout the entire house.
• Clean all lights and fixtures
• Clean ceiling fans
• Dust all furniture and wall hangings from highest to lowest
• Wash all walls to remove soot from the furnace
• Wash windows
• Clean all window screens
• Clean out any cub-by holes that have accumulated junk
• Vacuum and wash floors and rugs
• Clean and organize kitchen cabinets and repaper if needed
• Clean and organize kitchen draws
• Thoroughly clean refrigerator
• Clean oven
• Clean all appliances like toaster oven and microwave
• Watch for mold and mildew in the kitchens and bathrooms best to use bleach to clean up mold when ever possible
• Replace shower curtain
• Clean bathroom cabinets and medicine cabinets (throwing out anything that may be of no use or outdated.)
• Before installing any fans or air conditioning remember to clean or change their filters
• Remember that when sorting out junk if you don't use it you don't need it.
And last but not least, sort out any old clothes that you no longer use, remember there is always someone out there that might appreciate your hand me downs.
This is my check list for Spring cleaning. So when it comes time I just roll up my sleeves and get to work. The one thing to remember is that when you work room by room it allows you to clean over time especially if you don't have the luxury of taking several days from you life to devote to this chore.
