Self-discovery key to educational success: Teach a child to teach himself
Article ToolsNo greater lesson can be given to a child than a lesson in how to learn. To teach a child to teach himself offers infinite opportunities for growth, enrichment, fulfillment, and productivity throughout his lifetime. In a traditional school setting, this lesson is thoroughly evaded. Specific lessons are given with limited requirements. The child learns what is required of him and is well aware that the lesson given is all he needs to know about the subject. These confinements in learning produce closed minds and small ideas. For the child given to find out for himself all that is out there on any topic, the world becomes a grand place for the mind to play. So much to take interest in, so many ways to be interesting. Bright and colorful, these children will grow above the typical, into a shining light for society.
