Drink Recipes: Creative cocktails

A TO Z OF SHOTS AND COCKTAILS ATOMIC DOG TO ZIPPERHEAD

Let's face it, those of us that drink like a shot or cocktail from time to time whether it`s about the experimentation of mixing various drinks or just a way to use up the half bottle of advocaat left over at the end of that party. Most of us stick to the popular variants such as the Pina Colada or Screwdriver but I am going to go for some more unusual concoctions in an A to Z style. Of course mixing shots and cocktails is all about compromising, switching any given drink for a similar one could very well improve the taste for you, and it is after all about what tastes good to you. Measurements given are all relative and depend how much drink you want as long as you stick to the amounts it really doesn't matter if you use a pint glass or thimble to measure each constituent.

ATOMIC DOG

1 shots Light Rum
shot melon liqueur
shot Malibu
3 shots pineapple juice
shot lemon juice

Shake all of the Ingredients together with some ice and strain into a short glass.

BABY WOO WOO

shot Vodka
shot Peach Schnapps
shot Cranberry Juice

Shake all of the Ingredients together with some ice and strain into a shot glass.

CLOCKWORK ORANGE

1 shots Cognac
1 shots Grand Marnier
4 shots Orange Juice

Shake all of the Ingredients together with some ice and strain into a long glass.

DETOX SHOT

shot Peach Schnapps
shot Cranberry Juice
shot Vodka

Very hard to assemble the idea is to layer the drinks by pouring them gently so you have a section of red cranberry juice between the two clear liquors. If worst comes to worst then it is still very tasty shaken and served in a shot glass.

EARL GREY FIZZ

1 shot Vodka
shot Strong cold Earl Grey tea
shot Sugar syrup
Top up with Champagne

Shake the first three ingredients with some ice and strain into a Champagne flute top up with Champagne.

FREDDIE FUDPUCKER

1 shots Tequila
1 shots Vodka
3 shots Orange Juice
Dribble of Galliano

Shake the first three Ingredients with ice and strain into a long ice-filled glass, float the Galliano.

GREEK BUCK

2 shots Metaxa Brandy
shot Lemon juice
shot Ouzo
Top up with Ginger beer

Shake the Metaxa and Lemon juice together with ice and strain into a medium ice-filled tumbler. Top up with the Ginger beer and float the Ouzo.

HORSE`S NECK WITH A KICK

2 shots Bourbon
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
Top up with Ginger Ale

Pour the Bourbon and Angostura over ice in a medium sized tumbler, top up with Ginger Ale and stir.

IGNORANCE IS BLISS

1 shot Citron Vodka (normal Vodka will do)
1 shot Campari
1 shot Passion
